Already we have an amazing weekend planned. On June 18th-19th we shall be partaking in reptile and amphibian surveying; helping out the Trinidad and Tobago's Naturalists Club's Herpetology Group. It's going to be lots of fun, and we're looking forward to blogging all about the exciting things we get up to that weekend, and we'll be sure to post photos of the amazing creatures we find! So we hope you guys keep up to date with our blog, and are welcome to post comments/ask us questions all you want!

Welcome to the University of Glasgow Trinidad Expedition team's blog!!!! Teams have been heading out to Trinidad, a Carribean island just off the coast of Venezuela, since the 1980s. The island has beautiful rainforests, wetlands and many more fantastic habitats for diverse flora and fauna. This year the team head out mid-June and our main aims are to undertake scientific research, in cooperation with locally based biologists, enhancing the knowledge and understanding of Trinidad's amazing biodiversity. Specifically, we will study the reproductive ecology of amphibians, behaviour and ecology of some reptiles and we will aslo be doing some marine turtle conservation work.
As well as carrying out all that research, we will aslo be taking part in a 3-year education project, funded by the British Council, twinning 12 Glasgow schools with 12 Trinidad schools. The project has 3 main areas: biodiversity, expressive arts and culture. Biodiversity is the area the team will do most work on, helping schools learn about birds, amphibians and gardens here in Glasgow and in Trinidad.
